The holidays are here and it’s usually a time of celebration but for some, it may be a time of self-evaluation, reflection on the past and even anxiety about the upcoming year. Sometimes, we feel the stress that accompanies the holidays and our eating habits may have an effect on our job performance.

Truth or myth: You need 8 hours every night? Stay up and read this tonight (you’ll thank us in the morning!)

Is bottled water better than tap? Prepare to be shocked. Bottled water - already a more than $10 billion industry - is the fastest-growing beverage category in the U.S. But is it good for you? Here's the pure truth.

Start Here. Start Now. These words are more than a call to action; they’re the keys to leading a long, healthy life. Prevention represents the greatest control we will ever have over this disease. We can all play a part in eradicating it by adopting a healthy lifestyle that includes diet, exercise and screenings.
You can now save money on more than 300 generic drugs. Wal-Mart and Target offer more than 300 generic drugs at $4.00 each for a 30-day supply. This may be a much lower out of pocket expense than the generic co-pay on your health plan.
Benefits News

Great News!! Today, the IRS released Notice 2008-104, which delays the need for all pharmacies and drug stores to implement an Inventory Information Approval System (IIAS) or certify that 90% of their gross receipts were derived from the purchase of eligible medical expenses in order for payment cards to be used at their locations.

The IRS released inflation adjustments today. By law, the dollar amounts for a variety of tax provisions must be revised each year to keep pace with inflation. As a result, more than three dozen tax benefits, affecting virtually every taxpayer, are being adjusted for 2009.

ABC World News (9/19, story 7, 0:15, Gibson) reported, "There's welcome news for more than 40 million older and disabled Americans on Medicare. For the first time since the year 2000, premiums will not go up next year."

Bills were recently introduced in both houses of Congress to amend the Medicare Part D prescription drug benefit enrollment deadline date.  The bills proposed would waive late enrollment penalties through 2006.
The Family Fairness Act of 2006 (HR 5364) has been introduced in the House.  If approved, this bill would eliminate the hours of service requirement for benefits under FMLA.
When Congress passed the Medicare Prescription Drug Modernization Act in 2003, the January 1, 2006, implementation date seemed far away. With that date fast approaching, a huge cottage industry is developing, and our senior population is about to be overwhelmed by advertisements, articles, and solicitations.
Brand-name pharmaceutical costs have escalated rapidly, while generic prices haven't moved much, revealing an opportunity for companies to cut medical bills by encouraging use of generics.
